Senior Amazon executives visited Cyprus on Tuesday as the tech giant explores potential R&D facilities and infrastructure projects, Deputy Minister for Research Nicodemos Damianou announced.
The visit follows recent talks in the U.S. between President Christodoulides and major tech firms. Amazon officials met with Damianou and the Chief Scientist to discuss possible collaborations, including a research center, AI-focused partnerships, and data infrastructure aligned with Cyprus’s “Cloud First” policy.
In the coming weeks, Cyprus will also host representatives from Plug and Play, Tenstorrent, Microsoft, OpenAI, Oracle, and Google, aiming to attract investment and innovation in areas such as fire prevention, traffic management, and digital skills development.
“These companies can offer valuable expertise,” Damianou told the Council of Ministers, adding that the government is ready to seize this opportunity for tech-driven growth.
