In 2025, the largest data breach in history was recorded — 16 billion login credentials were leaked and made publicly available. According to Forbes, the discovery comes from an ongoing investigation by Cybernews.
Experts uncovered over 30 massive data sets containing login details for services like: Apple, Google, Facebook, Telegram, GitHub, VPN platforms — and even some government portals.
Most of the leaked data is new and previously unknown. The information is structured in a format that makes it easy for hackers to exploit: URL, username, and password — enabling large-scale automated attacks. This incident is a strong reminder of the importance of following basic cybersecurity principles and regularly updating your protection methods. Even the most secure account can be compromised if you use weak or reused passwords. How to Protect Yourself:
Update passwords on your most important accounts
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)
Use unique passwords or switch to passkeys
Check your credentials using a password manager (e.g., 1Password, Bitwarden).
